I too have been abused and rejected and made to feel small and worthless.
I still have issues regarding self-confidence
and still do not really know who I am, I have been just drifting around letting life happen to me for almost 40 years.
since my 40th bday last month I have started writing again, studying, pursuing my passions and am even enrolling in college!
if nothing else I am proud of all I have survived
sending you hugs on your incredible journey...

thank you for the hugs...rightbackatcha!!
Oh my, going back to college is a wonderful thing for you!!
I like what you said about pursuing your passions...cause my theory is this....if we have even only one passion in our life, but if we pursue it to the greatest degree, we will feel it's JOY and soon, that joy and passion will touch even the most mundane moments of our life!
May you continue to shine with confidence!!

Brook, what a truly inspiring story. I am sorry that you had to endure the abuse of the past but it has made you the strong woman you are today.
To all the women who have posted here just let me say this: You are powerful beyond means and you deserve only the highest and best for you.
I spent 12 years in law enforcement and saw first hand what mental and physical abuse can do. I am here right now, cheering for each and everyone of you. You do not know how many times I wanted to use that gun on my hip to end it all for the cowardly men who perpetrate such horrendous acts.
Know this one thing. As a man, I know your worth and I know you deserve the best.
Please keep moving forward, keep growing and keep finding the power inside you.
If any of you would like some assistance with your self-esteem or self-confidence issues, I have an exercise that I use with my clients that I would be more than willing to share with you. Just drop me a line here @ TBD!
May you be blessed always and in all ways!
Harry
