I am curious how many of you have been recently downsized, outsourced or just plain see your net worth going in the tank. I witness and know of folk who are in dire straits. We here daily of how we are at our highest job loss numbers in 5 years. My state, Ohio stays in the top 5 in bankruptcies and foreclosures. We had a 30 year old auto sales business announce it is shutting down last Friday and the national mainstays are reducing or flat out leaving, like Starbucks (I know who cares, 6 leave, 60 left), Bob Evans which is based here and home builder after home builder going bankrupt.
I have been blessed in that I have seen very little difference in my financial life outside of groceries and gas. Since my separation, I cook very little, and find it more cost effective albeit fattening, to eat out, rather than grocery shop. I am not boasting, but I am still able to tithe to my church, put away 6% in my company plan and pay more than the minimum on my credit cards. I know this could change without notice. I wonder what you folks think is our root problem and what we can do as a country to get out of this or if it should be handled more locally.
